It’s time to tee-off in the Tees Valley

Take a look at this list of golf courses in the Tees Valley and you’ll see why we can more than hold our own when it comes to playing the great game of golf.
The North East of England boasts some of the best courses in England. Below we look at those that lie in the Tees Valley, taking in Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.
Chipping your way down the coast
When it comes to golf the Tees Valley fares well! Make your way down the coast and play on some of the best links courses, taking in incredible views of the coast in some of the most beautiful locations.
Seaton Carew
Seaton Carew Golf Club in Hartlepool is the 10th oldest gold club in England and voted 53rd in the top 100 in England. Located on a stretch of land to the north of the River Tees the course is renowned for its quick drying sandy soil and tightly mown fairways.
Cleveland Golf Club
Cleveland Golf Club lies on the outskirts of Redcar close to the seafront and is said to be one of the best links courses in the area.
The course itself is flat and easy to walk, it is protected by strategically placed bunkers both on the fairways and around the greens, and in addition to many other Championship links courses, it is a true test of golf when the wind blows.
Saltburn Golf Club
The 12th hole at Saltburn Golf Club is acclaimed as one of the best par 3s in the North East of England. The course measures 5,947 yards, par 70 for men and 5,561 yards par 72 for ladies and is an enjoyable test for golfers at any level.
Hunley Hall
Positioned on the cliffs of Boulby in Brotton, with magnificent views from the course across the coast, Hunley Hall boast 29 beautifully designed holes with five different play combinations, creating a 6,900 yard championship 19 hole course.
Swing over to the west of the Tees Valley
Teesside Golf course
A very green course with trees lining the fairway and water features along the way. Over the last 10 years, Teesside Golf Club has undergone its largest transformation both on and off the course. This 18-hole course just south of Stockton and close to Middlesbrough is a great challenger for golfers at all levels without being too intimidating.
Rockliffe Hall
The five-star resort of Rockliffe Hall is a hidden gem in the North East and is home to an award-winning spa and one of the most challenging golf courses in Europe.
Set close to the meandering curve of the River Tees, just south of Darlington, it’s one of the most exciting golf resorts to have opened in England’s North East. Designed by world-renowned Marc Westenborg, it’s one of the longest golf courses in Europe, with a variety of five different tee positions so all levels of golfers can enjoy the experience.
Located on Brass Castle Lane, an exclusive area in Middlesbrough, this 18-hole parkland golf course was founded in 1908 and designed by James Braid. With stunning views of the Cleveland Hills, golfers can expect a warm welcome to this attractive and challenging course.
Wynyard Golf Club
The Wellington Course at Wynyard Golf Club is rated as one of the UK’s best courses and those who visit follow in the footsteps of the world’s best professionals including Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose who have all played the course.
The magnificent Wynyard Hall Hotel sits close by and is complemented by a lakeside spa, top AA rosette restaurant, farm shop, gardens and café.
All we need now is the 19th hole to open, so you can sink a well-deserved drink after your round!
