Creative Writing

This class takes place in person and online.

Creative Writing is the perfect place for budding or experienced writers to come along to socialise, share ideas, and most importantly, write.

Each session includes a writing prompt to get you on your way, but where you take it is up to you!

Tutor Joan Opie offers guidance and teaching throughout your first stages of writing in a warm and supportive atmosphere. If you already have some experience we provide helpful hints and feedback that will develop and improve your work.

The group meets every two weeks on a Thursday morning 10 am -12 noon.

About the tutor:
The group is led by tutor, Joan Opie, a graduate of Newcastle University’s Creative Writing PGC Course. She has written a phonics and writing book for children aged 7-11 years old, and has written a large amount of material for use by adult literacy tutors. In addition, she has published articles on beauty therapy and education, and has had poems published in the UK and USA.

All of our online content from classes to events can be accessed from a new dedicated platform called CogPlayer. CogPlayer links directly with your ARC account and automatically provides access to content you have booked through ARC’s website. This means you can log in with your usual ARC account details to easily access classes, performances, and other online activity.
