Twisted Fairy Tales at Preston Park Museum

Have a magical day out at Preston Park Museum this October half term. Visit the Victorian Street decorated for Halloween and spot your favourite ‘twisted fairy tales’, including, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Three Little Pigs and Rumpelstiltskin. Fancy dress is encouraged!

Build a house out of straw and bricks, then play at being the wolf and try to blow them down
Follow a trail of make-believe sweets to find the Gingerbread House in the Woodland Walk
Climb a giant beanstalk staircase
Watch out for the Big Bad Wolf lurking in the Walled Garden
Don’t miss Snow White asleep in the flower beds
Spooky crafts (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)
Magical storytelling (Tuesday and Thursday)
Meet owls from the North Yorkshire Moors Birds of Prey Centre (from Sunday 23 – Saturday 29 October)
Visit our pop-up pumpkin patch (limited availability, small charge per pumpkin)

Facilities

The museum facilities include a teashop, Victorian sweetshop, gift shop and toilets

This event is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. The Twisted Fairy Tale installations are located in the museum galleries, Victorian Street shops, Walled Garden and Woodland Walk (which can get muddy). The galleries can be accessed via a lift next to the Museum Gift Shop and on the Victorian Street.

Please be aware that the giant beanstalk installation is situated on the staircase from the Victorian Street to the galleries so is unfortunately not fully accessible. However it can still be viewed from the top and bottom (access via the lift next to the staircase).

Times

The museum is open 10am-4pm all week during school holidays and on bank holiday Mondays. The Museum is closed on Mondays in school term time but open 10am-4pm for the rest of the week.

Prices

Entry to Twisted Fairy Tales is included in the price of museum admission, see museum admission prices here . All of our tickets last a year so you can visit as many times as you like. If you already have a valid museum pass, don’t forget to bring it with you. Tickets for the museum can be purchased when you arrive.
