This part of the Teesdale Way connects the village of Middleton One Row to the market town of Yarm. Although the majority of the route is level, running through fields and some riparian woodland, it is still quite a challenge. Just outside Middleton St George, there was a WWII bomber station mainly used by the Royal Canadian Air Force (the runway of Teesside International Airport is only a kilometre away). In addition, the 13th century church of St George, which is situated near the edge of the airfield, has a churchyard with headstones of WWII aircrew.
