Get Hip! featuring the Razerbills

The Razerbills – four masked, caped and fez-topped sentinels who play a pick ‘n mix of wild instrumental sounds, interspersed with the odd vocal number.

Originally hailing from the Aire Valley area of West Yorkshire, the group has recently bolstered its ranks and expanded its geography with the addition of Edinburgh based organist Angus McPake (The Thanes, Les Boff!, Sensation Seekers) with Pete picking and twanging his homemade guitar, Mike – who lives by the seaside and likes to surf plays the drums and Chris clonks the bass and yelps himself hoarse!

The bands first release a 7 inch EP entitled ‘La Tombe’ came out in 2018 on Next Phase: Normal Records and featured 3 original tracks and a cover of the 60s tune ‘Sakkara’ by The Pharaohs. The EP quickly sold out and currently the only copy for sale on Discogs will cost you 100 euros!

The Razerbills debut LP ‘Omniscient Omnipotent Omnipresent’ was released in 2022 on Topsy Turvy Records in Germany, it has since flown off the shelves and like the EP is now hard to get hold of. This year the bands track ‘Journey’ featured on the compilation LP ‘Satans Disease’ Vol 1 which also featured a couple of bands who have played the Get Hip night in the past – The Milk Lizards & Palooka 5.

The Get Hip DJ’s will be keeping the music going before and after the band with their mix of 60s Soul, R&B, Latin, Hammond Grooves, Garage & Psych, Ska & other cool sounds on 45.

Doors open at 8pm till midnight (band on around 9pm) and tickets are £5 (plus booking fee) or it’s £8 on the door.
